Through the BSN@Home program at UW–Madison, registered nurses residing in Wisconsin can improve their marketability and strengthen their nursing preparation to practice effectively in increasingly complicated environments.

BSN@Home offers an innovative way for registered nurses who hold a two-year degree to earn their bachelor’s degree. Most nursing coursework is done online and, depending on what general education requirements you need to complete, you may be able to take those courses through UW College Courses Online.
The BSN@Home program is a collaboration of nursing programs at six UW–System institutions: Madison, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, and Stevens Point. You may choose any of the participating schools to be your “home” institution and the University from which you will earn your degree. (In the Madison program, two nursing courses involve periodic face-to-face sessions in addition to time spent online.) Through agreements with the Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS), up to 60 credits from associate degree coursework may transfer, including up to 30 nursing credits.

Admissions requirements
All applicants must:

- Have an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5.
- Have a RN license.
- Be a resident of Wisconsin, upper peninsula of Michigan, and/or contiguous counties in Illinois, Iowa or Minnesota.
- Meet university transfer admission requirements at UW–Madison.

- Because this is a collaboration between six UW–System schools, Madison, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Milwaukee, Oshkosh, and Stevens Point, you get to choose which school is your “home” school, making a bachelor’s more accessible than ever.
- Up to 60 credits from associate degree coursework can be transferred to your bachelor’s degree, including up to 30 nursing credits.
How you'll learn
- Online curriculum, with two half-day classes on UW–Madison campus (if Madison is selected as home campus).
- Clinical hours may be done near your home.
- Work individually and in teams on nursing and general education coursework and assignments.

Prior Learning Credits
- For RNs who hold an associate degree, up to 60 credits, including up to 30 in nursing.
General Education
- Up to 71 credits in sciences, social studies, humanities, mathematics, and other non-nursing electives. These courses are most often completed online.
